Program for Adults in Vocational
Education
The only one of its kind in the state of Virginia, the Program for Adults
in Vocational Education (P.A.V.E.) is a two-year vocational training program
which:
Serves
students with intellectual, physical, emotional, and learning disabilities.
— P.A.V.E. accommodates the unique learning needs of students with
differing ability levels and upholds the learning
environment principles of the entire
community college.
Provides students with tools to become independent support professionals
in their field
— Industry certifications are available within our Food Service
(Servsafe®) and Healthcare (nursing assistant certification) programs.
—
All PAVE programs are designed to allow students to work independently
within their field through an unpaid, coordinated internship after completing
professional and social skills training in the classroom.
Enriches academic abilities
through tailored curriculum and comprehensive support.
— Small class sizes
and focused curriculum promotes academic success for students with specialized
learning needs.
— Dedicated faculty, staff, and tutors work to help students achieve
their professional goals.

P.A.V.E. works in coordination with other community
resource agencies to ensure student success.
Fosters a unique
community college experience and employment opportunities.
— Students are
encouraged to engage in the full college experience through participation
in the PAVE club and other student
life organizations and activities throughout
J. Sargeant Reynolds.
— A dedicated internship specialist will place students
throughout the community and coach them through the internship in order
to increase student chances of employment after graduation.
