Academic Interests: My academic interest is to improve
the distance education component of the respiratory therapy program.
Specifically, I am interested in enhancing student interaction with
courses within the respiratory curriculum in order to increase student
retention of course information. Some of my ideas are to incorporate
clinical simulations, modules, and videos in conjunction with the lecture
notes and laboratories while touching on the various learning styles
of the students. In doing so, I believe students will be able to raise
his or her comfort level of being enrolled in a distance learning course. |

Academic Interests: Coordinating the clinical needs
of our Respiratory Therapy students. I have found this rewarding
and challenging during the past 30 years at the college. It has always
been amazing to me to see students begin with very little to no skill
in respiratory therapy when they enter the program and graduate having
the necessary skills to care for patients on life support equipment.
I have also been involved with the Virginia Society for Respiratory
Care for 33 years and have served on various Education committees.
I have been a member of the AARC (American Association for Respiratory
Care) since 1972. I have been a faculty senator since 2007 and
enjoy dealing with the many issues facing faculty at the community
college. |
